Sutton Saturday September 27

12pm OLYPIAD 2012 LAUNCH
The crowd in Sutton High Street seems to get bigger and bigger! Bathed in late summer sunshine The Fore played two sets to a buzzing crowd (Half of which I am sure we saw at Carshalton the week before, thanks to everyone that came down especially to see the guys play. After a slight hitch (There was no power in the nearby socket!) We set up a generator and The Fore were off into the 'Bop Bop' song otherwise known as "We were meant to be" the album flew off the 'Fore stand' and we were giving away posters to the crowd hustling around the stall. At this point we must thank the girls dancing to all the songs, everyone had a smile on their faces watching them..... The crowd grew and The Fore played on .....

OKTOBERFEST 3pm
We set up in the marquee next to the Oktoberfest bar and food stalls, the bar was packed with people sampling the German Beers and wines. With the sun steaming through the treesThe Fore played another hour set to an appreciative audience, beer flowed, and the audience devoured huge amounts of food, most of it traditional hearty fare such as Hendl (chicken), Schweinsbraten (roast pork), Haxn (knuckle of pork), Steckerlfisch (grilled fish on a stick), Würstel (sausages) along with Brezel (Pretzel)) and Knödeln (potato or bread dumplings)

Sutton High Street...This Saturday!!!

Back in Sutton High Street for a marathon session! Firstly we're in our usual site, just opposite the St Nicholas Centre entrance from 12 noon onwards. During the afternoon we will be taking part in the 'Cultural Olympiad' launch, which will be a celebration of us getting the Olympics in 4 years, with dancers and lots more besides. We're going to celebrate the occasion by giving away FREE FORE POSTERS!

Later in the afternoon we'll be moving up the High Street (3pm), by the Millennium Gardens stage where we will be providing the entertainment for the "Oktoberfest, which involves a lot of continental beer and food being sold. Sounds right up my street!

Gig Review - Carshalton Anti-Car Rally 21 Sept '08

After the disappointment of the last minute cancellation of our Kingston gig what a great gig the Carshalton one turned out to be. We had to get to Carshalton really early to set up to make the trip to the site of the event. There we were, all stood around the gazebo, trying to work out how to put it up without any instructions. In the end we put the tent up with no problems and the weather was really good, probably warmer than any day in August!

Radio Jackie were MC'ing the whole event and they put on a great show. What's more they really enjoyed our sets and are hoping to put our songs on their regular playlist.

Fresh from the recent recording session was 'You've Got To Choose' (or You HAVE To Choose as I announced it for some strange reason!) and it went really well. After 8 hours of manning The Fore stall, doing interviews with Radio Jackie and playing for the crowds we were shattered! looking forward to next Saturday though, when we're back in Sutton High Street for the Olympiad launch & beer festival - can it get any better?!?!

This Saturday's gig CANCELLED!!

Sadly the RNLI gig had to be cancelled. The orgnanisers decided to pull the event at the last minute apparently, but hopefully it'll be re-scheduled for later in the year. In the meantime our gig on the Sunday in Carshalton is still definitely going ahead, so keep this one in your diaries!

In the meantime....

Snippets of some of our new songs will be posted onto our myspace profile very soon...Keep checking our blog to find out when you can hear the new songs on myspace.

Gigs This Weekend - Sat 20/09 & Sun 21/09

Really busy weekend for gigs this weekend - if you're in the South West London/Surrey area then hopefully you'll be able to make one of them.

Saturday 20 September - Minima Yacht Club, Kingston

First up is a great gig that we're doing for the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution to anyone who didn't guess!) - at a Yacht Club next to the River Thames in Kingston. The event is FREE and we're on stage between 9pm and 10pm

Sunday 21 September - Anti Car Rally - Carshalton

We've been asked to provide the live music at this anti car rally in Carshalton, Surrey. London to Carshalton only takes 20 odd mins, so there's no excuse for anyone not to make it (unless you don't live in London that is!). We're playing two sets, one at 11am and another at 1pm. Just make sure you don't DRIVE to the event!

Bromley High Street Gig Review (14/09/2009)

Well it was great to be getting back into the swing of things. After a whole week in the studio it was good to get back into the gigs. We had abit of luck with the weather as well (actually it's amazing how lucky with are with the weather...not wanting to tempt fate lol)

That said, we were surprisingly rusty by our own admission, and didn't chance a few of the more slightly complicated songs on this occasion. Nevertheless we still had a great time, and it was good to get the chance to try out our new stage - now Simon can be seen by everyone (rather than being obstructed by my big head!). Sadly, the microphone leads were tied down and couldn't be moved, so we could get a mic to Si easily enough to allow him to sing a song. That'll all be sorted the next time we get to play in Bromley, no doubt.

Thanks to everyone who stood and watch (and bought the CD). We seemed to get a much larger crowd this time - hopefully it'll grow even bigger next time. We're aiming to be back in Bromley in October (date tbc), but keep checking the main website (and fore-um) for an update.

So the album is finished!!!

Yes it's true, we've finally finished the recording our our second album, Run And Hide!!!

After 7 long days in the studio we've finally completed our long awaited SECOND album - hope it was worth the wait. The album will shortly be released, but in the meantime, here's a short guide to all the songs:

1. Forgive And Forget
2. We Were Meant To Be
3. Have Me Back Again
4. Send My Love To You
5. You've Got To Choose
6. Run And Hide
7. Rumours And Lies
8. That's A Lie
9. It's You Girl
10. Lazy Day
11. Leave Me Alone
12. No Other Love
13. Tell Your Friend
14. Emma
15. Ain't That Just Fine

1. Forgive And Forget
The opener, sung by Spencer and backed up by Luke and Matt in the chorus. This one features Spencer on piano, which can we heard in the background. It sets the scene for what to expect for the rest of the album.

2. We Were Meant To Be
This one is a bit of a duet between Luke and Spencer - Luke taking the verses and Spencer on the middle 8. We've been playing this one at our gigs for sometime now and it's great to finally get it down on CD.

3. Have Me Back Again
Matt and Spencer sing. Spencer wrote this one when he was 20 so it's nice to finally get it recorded.

4. Send My Love To You
Simon sings this one. Luke does the upper harmony - their voices really work well together.

5. You've Got To Choose
Man Of Few Words Part II!! Got the same feel as MOFW, although this time the song is sung by Matt.

6. Run And HideTitle track of the album. No particular reason for this, except it seemed to make a good album title. We're all really pleased with this song - Matt plays some great guitar and Simon is going nuts on the instrumental break!

7. Rumours And Lies
A slower number, sung by Spencer. This one was done pretty much is one take, which wasn't bad!

8. That's A Lie
Duet between Luke and Spencer. We've substituted the second electric guitar for an acoustic guitar and we really like it. Check out the "weeeelllll" at the start - it took us ages to get it right!!!

9. It's You Girl
One of the Fore's management team's favourite songs, but not one that we usually play live. This is the oldest song on the album - Spencer wrote this one when he was just 14.

10. Lazy Day
One of the features of Run And Hide is the use of piano. Although we're releasing the album in the winter 'Lazy Day' has a summer feel to it. Definitely different from our usual sound and one that we're really pleqased with.

11. Leave Me Alone
A real punchy song, which we often play in our live sets. Ends with a great harmony which sets the scene for...

12. No Other Love
One of Matt and Luke's favourite songs. Matt and Spencer duet and Matt gets out the 12 string guitar again from the Black And White sessions.

13. Tell Your Friend
Another Matt solo song and another song done in one take. Good job too - Si wouldn't have been happy doing too many takes on this one! Features some mean handclaps on it, which all four us did.

14. Emma
Quite a haunting song, especially when Matt and Luke's backing vocals come in at the end of the song. Piano is played by Spencer

15. Ain't That Just Fine
Last song on the album. Sung by Luke and backed up by Matt and Spencer. Simon really likes this one and it seems a fitting way to end the album.

So which song is MY favourite? Tricky one, really, all the songs have good points for me. Since I wrote them all the reasons why I like songs might differ from why others might have a favourite. At the moment though I'm really pleased with Rumours & Lies, Forgive & Forget and It's You Girl. I'll leave you to decide which is your favourite songs :)

The Album In The Works

While the lads are taking a well-deserved break, this is The Rock Relic fillin' in for 'em here on the ForeFront ...

And I've gotta tell ya that, shortly, they'll be back in the studios, hammerin' out the trax for their new album, called Run and Hide. Now, if there's any CD you should have for a Christmas stocking-stuffer, this has to be the one!

As they get closer to the contract we've all been waiting for, they're staying as busy as ever with a mix of gigs, rehearsals, new material and more.

Undoubtedly (and as one fan put it so eloquently) The Fore is the James Brown of rock (the hardest-working band in show business!). So stay tuned to this site for updates from the band itself. You're witnessing the rise of musical history with these lads!

More later ... we've still gotta find Si, who went to NC for a wedding (no, I don't think it was his ... but those Carolina girls are pretty nice-looking! lol).
